Community Guidelines

Last updated: June 9, 2026

Wanderkin exists so LGBTQ+ travelers can find community, safety, and friendship wherever they go. These guidelines are how we protect that.

They're not legal fine print. They're the expectations every member of this community agrees to. If you're here, you've agreed to them. If someone violates them, we act.

Respect everyone's identity

  • Use people's chosen names and pronouns. Always.
  • Don't question anyone's identity, orientation, gender expression, or right to be in this community.
  • Don't make assumptions about someone's identity based on their appearance, voice, or profile.
  • Misgendering someone after being corrected is a violation. Repeated misgendering results in a ban.
  • Identity tags on profiles are self-described and voluntary. Don't pressure anyone to disclose more than they've chosen to share.

Friendship, not dating

  • Wanderkin is a travel community. It is not a dating app, a hookup app, or a cruising platform.
  • Don't send unsolicited romantic or sexual messages. Don't ask for dates. Don't comment on someone's attractiveness as an opening message.
  • If a genuine friendship develops into something more, that's your life. The platform is not the place to pursue it. Take it to a personal channel.
  • Repeated romantic or sexual solicitation results in a warning, then a ban.

Be kind in conversations

  • No harassment, hate speech, slurs, or discrimination of any kind, including on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, disability, body type, HIV status, immigration status, or socioeconomic background.
  • Disagree respectfully or move on. You don't have to like everyone. You do have to treat everyone with basic decency.
  • Don't dogpile, brigade, or coordinate against another user.
  • Don't post content that is violent, threatening, or deliberately distressing.
  • Passive aggression, sustained hostility, and patterns of unkindness are violations even if no single message crosses a line.

Report anything that feels wrong

  • If someone makes you uncomfortable, report them. You don't need to be sure it's a "real" violation. That's our job to assess.
  • Tap the ⋯ menu on any profile, message, or feed post to report.
  • We review every report within 24 hours. For urgent safety concerns, email safety@usewanderkin.com.
  • You will be notified when your report is resolved. We won't share your identity with the person you reported.
  • Retaliating against someone for reporting you is a bannable offence.

Protect each other's privacy

  • Don't share someone's identity, photos, location, or any information from their profile or conversations outside this app without their explicit permission.
  • Don't screenshot private conversations to share publicly.
  • Don't out anyone. Ever. For any reason. This is non-negotiable and results in an immediate permanent ban.
  • Some users are in countries or situations where being identified as LGBTQ+ puts them at risk. Treat every person's privacy as if their safety depends on it, because it might.

No spam, scams, or commercial activity

  • Don't use Wanderkin to promote a business, sell products, recruit for events, or drive traffic to external platforms.
  • Don't send bulk or template messages to multiple users.
  • Don't impersonate another person, organisation, or Wanderkin staff.
  • Don't create fake profiles or multiple accounts.
  • Verified ambassadors may recommend their own business (e.g., a cafe they own) in city feeds, clearly disclosed. This is the only permitted commercial mention.

What happens when guidelines are violated

  • First violation (minor): Warning via in-app notification with a reference to the specific guideline violated.
  • Second violation or first serious violation: Temporary suspension (7 days). The user is notified with the reason and duration.
  • Severe violation (outing someone, harassment, threats, hate speech): Immediate permanent ban. No warning.
  • Appeals: Users can appeal a suspension or ban by emailing support@usewanderkin.com within 14 days. Appeals are reviewed by a different moderator than the one who issued the action.
  • We reserve the right to ban anyone whose behaviour undermines the safety of the community, even if their actions don't neatly fit a specific guideline above.

These guidelines exist because this community matters. If you're here, you're part of something worth protecting. Look out for each other.
